I thought the actual spawn block is where I labeled it with cobble stone and stairs. It faces the portal directly. If we were to follow your sketch, Ma, the spawn will be in the middle of the cowboys' main road. I'm not sure if it is possible to move the spawnpoint to another location.

Wait! how about I make the center of the gazebo directly under spawnpoint? Then we can follow your sketch, how does that sound?

Oh - I had assumed the portal was at the spawn point!

Ok - so if we move the portal & the gazebo to the spawn point?  Is that what you mean? Or just the gazebo?

ok - on second thought. The spawn chunks is a fairly large area & the portal/gazebo is not far off from the spawn point. We could leave it as is and save our self some work. I don't care if the cowboy side is closer to the spawn point or not - you can switch the alien and cowboy sides on the picture I sent - it doesn't make any difference to me - it was more the alignment and basic layout that I was suggesting.

Yeah, I really like your layout. It was sort of what I was planning to do. I had pictured the portal facing directly in front of the spawnpoint. I can build the gazebo to be directly over spawn. From there, the doorways would be North/South. That way, we dont have to move the portal.

Hey Phee - when you get a chance, can you log in and check out where I'm planning on putting the saloon (it'll be pretty obvious - lol)? I want to make sure I give you enough room for your nether portal plans.

I did a little clearing in the nether portal room.  there is lava above so I think we should lower the floor a bit

Hey MC, I don't mind where the builds are as long as they are outside the 25x25 area that I mentioned in my "Help with projects->work on spawn" post. All I got planned really is the gazebo. After that I have no idea. :p

Yo MC! I've been spending some time thinking about the structure/design of the gazebo, and I'm starting to realize that it's more of a temple than a gazebo (because it's just so big!). Now hear me out on this... what if I made it look like the taj mahal?? I know it has nothing to do with the alien v cowboys theme, but I'm totally seeing the taj mahal here! Go check out what I've go so far and tell me what you think!

I'm totally ok with it. I'm going to continue building on the side I'm building in a wild west kind of theme, because that's what's been started.  Maybe we could think of a more taj mahal/desert theme for the other side? Or we could still go ultra modern on the other side with a taj mahal in the middle! ;-)
